This is an authentic United States Army Enlisted Man's Service Coat, colloquially known as a 'Class A' uniform, dating from the World War II era (circa 1941-1945). The garment is constructed from heavy-weight olive drab (OD-33) wool serge, featuring a single-breasted four-button front closure with brass 'Great Seal of the United States' buttons. The jacket displays a peak lapel and four exterior patch pockets with scalloped flaps. Inside the collar, a hand-stamped laundry mark 'H 6948' is visible on the tan lining, which served as a soldier's identification. The tunic is heavily decorated with period insignia: the right sleeve bears a Fifth Air Force shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) and a Technical Sergeant rank chevron, while the lapels feature the 'U.S.' and Air Corps branch disks. Notable awards include a Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) on a blue field, a Ruptured Duck honorable discharge patch above the right pocket, and a ribbon bar featuring the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with multiple stars.
