Early 20th Century Eastlake Style Dressing Chest with Swivel Mirror

This is an antique wooden dressing chest, likely dating from the 1900s to 1920s, showing characteristic late Eastlake or cottage Victorian design influences. The piece is constructed with a combination of solid wood and veneers, featuring a dark reddish-brown stain that has aged significantly. It comprises two smaller top accessory drawers and two full-width lower drawers. The top surface supports a large, arched swivel mirror held by two turned wooden supports known as harp brackets, which terminate in decorative finials. Distinctive decorative elements include incised cartouche-shaped carvings on the central drawer front and the mirror base splat, as well as wood-turned knobs on the top drawers and ornate metal ring pulls on the larger lower drawers. The piece stands on turned legs with integrated casters. Condition is poor to fair; the top surface shows significant finish loss, heavy scratching, and water staining. There is notable edge wear, chipping along the drawer dividers, and some structural separation visible at the joints. The mirror silvering appears aged but intact, and the overall finish exhibits a dry, crackled patina that would require professional restoration to return to its original luster.
