The piece features a dark-stained wood construction, potentially oak or walnut, characterized by its ornate and heavy carving. The desk stands on a pair of elaborate trestle-style legs with open scrolling and pierced work, connected by a decorative scalloped stretcher featuring a central carved finial or boss. The desktop includes a single deep drawer with an inset panel featuring a bevelled border. The drawer is flanked by two brass-toned metal knobs; the right knob currently holds a small paper tag or key. In terms of condition, there is visible wear to the finish, particularly along the sharp edges of the legs and the drawer front, showing lighter wood beneath the dark stain.
