This is a circular antique sports medal, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (Victorian or Edwardian era). The medallion is crafted from a silver-toned metal, possibly sterling silver, and features a high-relief repoussé design on the obverse depicting three male figures in athletic attire competing in a footrace. The figures are rendered with significant anatomical detail, positioned atop a blank scrolling banner which was traditionally intended for custom engraving of the winner's name or event details. Above the central scene is a decorative scrolling pediment with a small suspension ring attached. The medal is presented in its original clamshell presentation box, featuring a maroon textured leather or leatherette exterior, a cream silk or satin lid lining with visible aging and foxing, and a deep blue velvet recessed base. The condition of the medal shows a soft, aged patina with minor surface scratches and darkening in the recessed areas, which highlights the fine craftsmanship and depth of the casting. There are no visible hallmarks on the face, but they may be present on the reverse or the edge. The presentation box shows light wear along the hinge and edges, consistent with its age.
