This is a monumental 19th-century French Renaissance Revival (Henry II style) Buffet à Deux Corps, executed in rich solid walnut with a warm, deep patina. This two-part architectural piece features an upper display cabinet with two arched glass panel doors flanked by fluted and ring-turned columns. The top is crowned with a heavy, deeply carved cornice featuring scrolling foliage and a central circular cartouche. The lower section consists of a buffet base with two drawers over two cabinet doors. The drawers are adorned with hand-carved grotesque masks that serve as pulls, surrounded by lush floral vines. The lower doors feature high-relief oval medallions depicting intricately carved wildlife scenes, likely game birds and hunting motifs, set within mitered frames. The entire structure is supported by block feet and framed by vertical supports with ornate capitals. The craftsmanship displays superior cabinet-making skills, including dovetail construction visible on the drawers and high-relief wood carving throughout. The condition appears to be excellent for its age, showing minor surface scuffs and localized wear consistent with antique furniture, but maintaining structural integrity and its original period hardware and locks.
