1923 United States Peace Silver Dollar

This is a United States Peace Silver Dollar, dated 1923, designed by Anthony de Francisci to commemorate the end of World War I. The obverse features the left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a radiant crown, modeled after the artist's wife, Teresa de Francisci. Encircling the figure are the inscriptions 'LIBERTY' and 'IN GOD WE TRVST' (the 'V' was used intentionally as a classical Latin styling), along with the date 1923 at the base. This numismatic specimen is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, with a standard diameter of 38.1 mm and a weight of 26.73 grams. The coin exhibits a natural metallic luster typical of silver, though some surface clouding and minor contact marks are visible through the plastic capsule. Notably, the portrait shows characteristic soft wear on the hair above the ear and the tips of the crown, suggesting an About Uncirculated (AU) grade or high-end Choice Very Fine. No prominent scratches or deep gouges are observed on the obverse. The item is currently secured within a clear hard plastic protective capsule and a secondary polyethylene bag to prevent environmental oxidation and physical abrasion. The overall craftsmanship reflects the high relief standards of the early 20th-century U.S. Mint production.
