Vintage Vendome Faux Pearl and Aurora Borealis Crystal Jewelry Set

This is a vintage matched jewelry set consisting of a double-strand bracelet and a pair of clip-on earrings from the high-end costume jewelry maker Vendome. The set is constructed using a base of gold-tone metal filigree and findings. It features a combination of creamy white faux pearls, textured baroque-style champagne faux pearls, and multi-faceted clear glass beads with an Aurora Borealis (AB) coating, which creates an iridescent rainbow shimmer. The bracelet uses a decorative fold-over clasp typical of mid-century high-quality costume pieces. The earrings are designed in a cluster or floral style, featuring the same pearl and AB crystal configuration mounted on ornate circular filigree gold-tone backs with adjustable screw-back/clip-on mechanisms. Regarding condition, there is visible age-related wear. The most significant issue is the peeling and loss of the nacre (coating) on several of the larger faux pearls, particularly the golden-toned ones on the bracelet, exposing the underlying bead core. The gold-tone metal plating shows signs of oxidation and dulling, especially on the earring backs and the bracelet's clasp. Traces of verdigris may be present in the recessed areas of the filigree. The Aurora Borealis crystals appear to retain most of their brilliance, though minor surface scratches are likely due to age. Based on the branding, materials, and hardware, this set likely dates from the 1950s to the 1960s. Vendome was a premium line of Coro, and the high bead count and complex settings reflect their superior craftsmanship despite the current wear.
