Signed and Dated Artwork by D. Popiashvili

This item is a framed original artwork pieces viewed from the reverse side. The back consists of a tan-colored heavy paperboard or masonite backing secured within a rustic, hand-joined wooden frame. Central to the provenance of the piece is the handwritten attribution located in the middle of the backing board. The inscription, applied in a black non-bleeding ink, includes the artist's name in Georgian script, followed by the Latin-script signature "D. Popiashvili" and the specific date "1996". The wooden frame exhibits a natural grain with a light reddish-brown stain or finish, featuring simple mitered corners that appear to be held together with aged staples and small nails, some of which show oxidation. A thin white string has been threaded through a hole in the backing board to serve as a rudimentary hanging mechanism. The condition shows minor edge wear to the wood, light scuffing on the backing board, and a small dark circular stain to the left of the signature. The craftsmanship of the frame is utilitarian, suggesting a contemporary or folk-art aesthetic from the late 20th century.
