This is an antique, hand-wrought copper vessel, likely of Middle Eastern or Mediterranean origin, possibly dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The item exhibits a bulbous, slightly waisted form with a flaring rim and a weighted base. It features two distinct horizontal bands of decorative gadrooning or vertical ribbing, produced through manual repousse work. Centered between these bands is a hand-engraved or chased frieze depicting stylized repeating motifs that appear to be avian or geometric and floral in nature. The construction is heavy and utilizes thick copper sheeting. The surface condition shows a heavy, authentic dark brown patina with significant patches of green verdigris (copper carbonate oxidation) concentrated near the iron suspension ring and base, indicating exposure to moisture over a long duration. There are visible surface abrasions, minor dings, and a white chalky residue consistent with storage in a damp environment. One iron side ring remains attached via a copper lug, though the corresponding ring on the opposite side appears missing or obscured. The hand-hammered texture is visible underneath the tarnish, reflecting traditional craftsmanship before the era of mass production.
