Pair of Stellmacher Teplitz Art Nouveau Ceramic Vases

This set consists of two distinct Stellmacher Teplitz ceramic vases, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1895-1905), showcasing the characteristic Turn-Teplitz Art Nouveau or Jugendstil aesthetic. Both pieces are crafted from high-quality earthenware or 'Turn' porcelain, featuring intricate high-relief applied grape motifs. The vase on the left exhibits a classic shouldered form with a flared rim, decorated with a distinct beige and brown mottled or sponged glaze. It features applied dark purple/black grape clusters and trailing vines with leaves, creating an organic, three-dimensional effect. The vase on the right is a small handled pitcher or ewer shape with a more organic, undulating body. It is decorated with a large cluster of light green grapes and broad dark green leaves against a textured olive and brown background. The handle is modeled to resemble a gnarled vine. The craftsmanship is exemplary of Alfred Stellmacher’s workshop, showing fine detail in the fruit and foliage. Condition-wise, both pieces appear to be in excellent antique condition with no large chips or cracks visible, though such applied elements are notoriously prone to minor losses or flea bites on the leaf edges or stems. A light craquelure in the glaze and some shelf wear on the unglazed bases are consistent with age. This pair represents the pinnacle of Bohemian Art Nouveau ceramics from the Teplitz region, highly collectible for their organic realism and technical difficulty.
