2020-W Samoa Fruit Bat Quarter with V75 Privy Mark

This is a 2020 United States Quarter featuring the National Park of American Samoa 'Fruit Bat' design, produced at the West Point Mint as indicated by the 'W' mint mark. A critical and highly unusual feature of this specific 2020 issue is the inclusion of a 'V75' privy mark on the obverse (head) side, which was added to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. The coin is composed of a cupro-nickel clad over a copper core, measuring 24.26mm in diameter with a weight of approximately 5.67 grams. The reverse depicts a mother Samoan fruit bat hanging against a leafy background, a design by Richard Masters and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. The obverse features the traditional portrait of George Washington. Although noted as 'circulated,' the item is housed in a protective circular plastic capsule, which helps preserve the remaining luster and prevents further surface contact.
