Vintage Sgraffito Wood Miami Beach Souvenir Salt and Pepper Shakers

This is a pair of vintage, lathe-turned wooden salt and pepper shakers featuring a bulbous base, tapered neck, and pedestal foot. The shakers are decorated using a sgraffito technique, where color is applied over natural wood and then scratched away to reveal patterns. The color palette consists of magenta and deep purple bands against a light natural blonde wood. The central decoration includes a wide purple band with 'MIAMI BEACH' carved in block lettering across the pair. Above the text, there are geometric tribal-style patterns including triangles and hatching. The tops and the lower portion of the bulbous bodies remain in a natural finish, while the circular pedestal bases are painted magenta. Each shaker measures approximately 4 to 5 inches in height and appears to be constructed from a lightweight tropical hardwood. The condition shows signs of age and use; there is visible paint loss and scuffing, particularly on the purple band and around the magenta foot of the 'BEACH' shaker. Faint surface scratches and minor indentations are present across the wood, consistent with mid-20th-century souvenir ware.
