This is a natural mineral specimen featuring clear to translucent quartz crystals, commonly known as Herkimer Diamonds when found in this double-terminated habit. The specimen is held in a person's hand, suggesting an approximate size of 3 to 4 inches in width. It consists of multiple faceted crystals embedded within a rough, iron-stained host rock (matrix). The primary crystal visible in the center exhibits high clarity, distinct geometric facets, and a glassy (vitreous) luster typical of high-quality quartz. The surrounding matrix is a coarse, sedimentary rock with a varying palette of tan, ochre, and rust-brown tones, indicating the presence of iron oxide or limonite staining.
