U.S. Army 1st Aviation Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia

This is a United States military distinctive unit insignia (DUI) for the 1st Aviation Brigade. Constucted from struck metal with enamel work, the badge features a circular blue field with a gold bordering edge. Central to the imagery is a stylized golden eagle in flight above a small gold landscape, representing the unit's aerial mission. Below the circular design is a gold-toned scroll bearing the Latin motto 'VINCIT QUI PRIMUM GERIT', which translates to 'He conquers who gets there first.' The pin appears to be roughly 1 inch to 1.25 inches in height. Based on the craftsmanship and the presence of the blue enamel, it is likely a mid-to-late 20th-century production, potentially from the Vietnam War era through the 1980s. The gold plating shows light surface scratches and minor oxidative patina around the edges and on the reverse clutch (if visible). The enamel is intact without significant chipping, though there is general surface wear consistent with age and previous attachment to a uniform or display board.
