This is a United States one-cent coin, commonly referred to as a penny, dated 1989 with a 'D' mint mark indicating it was struck at the Denver Mint. The coin is composed of a copper-plated zinc core (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper). The obverse features the profile of Abraham Lincoln designed by Victor David Brenner, as evidenced by the faint bust silhouette.
