Art Glass Compote on Spidery Pedestal Base

This is a sophisticated piece of contemporary art glass, featuring a wide, shallow bowl resting atop an intricate pedestal base. The bowl is crafted with a white opalescent glass that has been manipulated to create a reticulated or 'python' skin effect, showing dark purple or black veins through the white surface. The base is particularly striking, composed of multiple pulled glass tendrils in a deep violet-black that intersect to form a cage-like support. These tendrils emerge from a solid circular foot and flare outwards to cradle the bowl. The piece appears to be hand-blown and hand-shaped, indicative of studio art glass craftsmanship rather than mass production. The condition appears excellent with a high glossy finish and no visible fractures or chips in the delicate stem work. While no maker's mark is visible in the photograph, the style and execution are reminiscent of individual glass artists' work from the late 20th to early 21st century. The organic, almost biological form of the base provides a nice contrast to the geometric regularity of the bowl's pattern.
